'Outrage over radio tsunami spoof'

Nice to see a city with its own experience of horror and death showing the kind of compassion it would have expected from us. Or not.
Quote from the song: '...I just saw her float by, a tree right through her head, and now your children will be sold to child slavery...'

Help!

It's 3am and I have to be awake in a few hours to teach a bunch of kids Maths and English, but Wickerman just played an absolute killer set on KissFM and he won't let me sleep. He's playing a remix of some rolling tune that I used to have in my car, sounds wicked, also heard some Clipz, Mampi Swift tunes, and that 'When the lights go out' tune. And I heard the Uprising VIP earlier, it's good but not as good as the original.

'Natural fidgets keep slim without effort'

I am living proof that this theory is true. I'm very fidgety, and I'm so skinny I was called 'four-eyed Ethiopian' at school (I wore glasses).
'...everyday body movements or fidgeting may be a good way of losing weight by generating heat through a process called "Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis" (Neat).'
'They (fat people) have low Neat, which means they have a biological need to sit more.'
So scientists have proven some people can't be bothered to get off their fat lazy asses. Groundbreaking.

Pi

Just watched the movie 'Pi' on Channel 4, I'd heard it was a good movie. I got into it to begin with, but then it got a bit boring and I ended up here. Got back into it when they played a bit of Orbital, the soundtrack was excellent (I read somewhere that 'Watching Windows' was in the film, but I didn't hear it).
What did I learn from the film? If life gets too much, use an electric drill on your head. Nice.

'India train fire 'not mob attack''

The outcome of an Indian government inquiry has revealed that the train fire in which 59 Hindus died in 2002 was started from inside the train. At first it was reported that a group of angry Muslims had firebombed the train, and a vengeful wave of violence targeting Muslims swept across the Gujarat region of India leaving about a thousand people dead. The group on the train were coming from a visit to the site where a Hindu mob had stormed a mosque and tore it down in 1992, so tensions were already high. In the ensuing violence, it was reported that the nationalist government authorities encouraged the attacks. The region is still traumatised by the tragic period, and lessons must be learnt.

'US Soldier cleared in drowning case'

'A US soldier is acquitted of ordering an Iraqi to his death in the River Tigris but convicted on lesser charges.'

Quote from the article: 'On Thursday the court heard that the soldiers had laughed as his relative was swept to his death.'

Eid mubarak!

Some people did Eid-ul-Adha today, some yesterday, but Eid mubarak to everyone whenever they did it, wherever they did it.

Desperado

Artificial Intelligence - Desperado (V Recordings)

Artificial Intelligence produced two stunning tunes last year with 'Switch On' and 'Uprising'. But the sublime 'Desperado' which is due for release next month tops them both.

Bez is back!

I just saw the first show of 'Celebrity Big Brother' and was expecting the usual crap selection of soap stars and popstars that I've never heard of to appear. And my expectations were met, apart from the complete shocker of Bez from the Happy Mondays turning up!
I've never really been into bands, but Bez has always been my favourite band member ever. Every band should have 5 members... a singer, a guitarist, a bass guitarist, a drummer and a Bez. If I was in a band I would be the Bez, it's a role I'm naturally suited for.
He'll be crap on the show because he'll be on a permanent comedown, but the others are attention-seeking morons, so vote for Bez to win!

'Bungled Israeli killing revealed'

Every year, the UK government release documents from 30 years ago that were kept secret from the public.
Papers released today tell of a Moroccan man living in Norway, who was mistaken for a Palestinian activist by Israeli 'agents' and shot dead. If the UK government knew about this, then others would also have known. Surely killing an innocent man is murder?

Disasters Emergency Committee

The most efficient way to donate money for the tsunami appeal seems to be online using the website www.dec.org.uk

Incidentally, I came across a news story about an earthquake in Antarctica that was reported just two days before the South Asian one.
